Check Out: Bird Calls

Writer's picture: Daniele A.Daniele A.

I know when spring is here when I start hearing birds chirping. They are everywhere if you stop and listen when you step outside your door.

If you like to hike, the diversity of bird calls in the trails is immense. I found this app that identifies these calls. It's called BirdNET, developed by Cornell University. The app records the sound in your phone, you submit it and it will bring you the name of the bird, with a link to a Wikipedia page. You can record a number of bird calls and isolate one call by selecting a sound interval. There is also an option to explore the bird in your geographical area.
